WHEN & HOW TO CONVERT TO CONVENTIONAL ECCE

 

Indications

  • hard nucleus
  • rigid, small pupil
  • capsulozonular complications

Cut the edges of tunnel till limbus & extend on either side

Complete the procedure and then apply sutures

Better to convert whenever you are in trouble

Temporal section vs. superior section

We in SRIKIRAN conducted a study comparing temporal section/superior section.  100 cases, from camp, k-readings by the same person.  Surgeries done by the same surgeon.  50 cases temporal section, 50 cases superior section.

Results

  • temporal section astigmatically better
  • if preop > 1D of against the rule temporal section helps
