It is caused by a herpes virus and antiviral therapies (systemic acyclovir) should be started immediately. |

It is commonly associated with anterior and posterior uveitis. |
| c. |
It can be associated with retinal detachments which develop from retinal holes. |
| d. |
It always involves the posterior pole but spares the optic nerve. |
