Stickler syndrome

  • Is caused by a defect in the procollagen II gene.  The other findings are characteristic of this syndrome. Stickler syndrome is a common inherited cause of retinal detachments in children.  These detachments are often bilateral, can occur in the first decade of life, and are often caused by retinal tears.
