  About Our Program
_________________________________________

Cyber-SightŪ is a patient care consultation and education program that extends the presence of Volunteer Faculty and expands the ORBIS mission to eliminate preventable blindness.

Background
What started as a simple sequence of e-mail messages during a 1998 ORBIS program to Havana, Cuba, developed into a full-fledged telemedicine program called Cyber-SightŪ in 2003. Today, Cyber-Sight makes it possible for ophthalmologists in developing countries to benefit from the knowledge and experience of ORBIS volunteer faculty offered entirely online through E-Resources, E-Learning, and E-Consultation.

E-Resources
Our electronic "library" of educational materials including books, manuals, videos, case presentations, and other specially prepared website material available free and geared to any ophthalmologist or eye care healthcare provider worldwide.

E-Learning
Our on-line structured courses allowing enrolled learners to access material covering basic and advanced concepts in ophthalmology, to demonstrate proficiency in the material covered, and to receive a certificate of completion.

E-Consultation
Our most advanced component links partners with expert mentors for patient consultation and to enhance selection of patients before program visits by ORBIS volunteer doctors. The program assists with diagnosis while discussing effective methods for treatment and assisting partners by adding to their skills for management of future patients.
