Melanomas of the iris are rare and usually present as elevated, vascular, darkly pigmented or amelanotic lesions usually located inferiorly.
Findings suggestive of a melanoma include growth, spontaneous hyphema, large size, vascularity, iris heterochromia, elevated IOP, angle involvement, glaucoma, and sector cataract.
Treatment may require a resection (sector iridectomy) or enucleation.
