  boy with left eye injury    B-scan 2

This 12-year-old boy was struck in the left eye with a knife one year ago.  He presents with left esotropia, a corneal scar, and a dense cataract.

1.  The following can be said about this boy: 

a.  he should begin wearing safety glasses now!
b.  he could develop sympathetic ophthalmos
c.  his eye may have sustained more damage than can be seen externally
d.  all of the above
   
2.  The left eye turns in most likely on the basis of:

a.  loss of vision in the left eye
b.  left sixth nerve palsy
c.  fibrosis of the left medial rectus
d.  none of the above 
   
3.  The B-scan tells us:

a.  the cataract is the only problem with this left eye
b.  a retinal detachment is present
c.  cataract extraction alone will result in good vision
d.  this eye has a good prognosis for vision
